Introducing - X-Head 1300 Cylinder Guards!
for: 2024+ GS, 2025+ GSA, RT, RS & R.
X-Head 1300's thick, high impact strength molded polymer is the key to their No Break rating. This special material is slightly ductile to absorb the force of impact and prevent damage to your cylinder heads. In between the shell and the cylinder head is a thick thermoplastic rubber liner that aids in dissipating impact force while preventing hard contact. Each side mounts using the same single screw used to fasten the small BMW spark plug cover using a T30 Torx screwdriver. Installation is shown in the attached Installation Instructions.
X-Head 1300 cover 80% of the face of the head to protect not only the bottom/front initial impact area, but also the mid part of the cylinder head. Even in a stationary drop, inertia can cause a bike to roll partially onto the face of the head before it settles down.
For paved roads and many off road courses, X-Head 1300 provide excellent protection.
If you ride a GS/A off road over large, rocky surfaces, X-Head 1300 can be fitted along with BMW crash bars. They are an ideal off-road protection combination as the X-Head 1300's fill the vulnerable spaces in-between the crash bars to protect your cylinder heads from rocks and strike angles of terrain that can get past the crash bars.
NOTE: If you install BMW crash bars, 2 spacer washers per side will be needed. Please contact MaMo to procure a set.
X-Head 1300's protect and look good in the process!
For X-Head 1300 installation, the original BMW Screws securing the thin spark plug cover are to be re-used. After test fitting the X-Heads and securing them with each of the 2 screws, you can optionally remove the screws and apply a small drop of Loctite to the threads to assure tightness during use, then re-install the screws.
